Khammam (AP): Soon Khammam district is going to have an aerodrome if the on-going efforts of the officials fructify.
The Government plans to construct an aerodrome at Kothagudem, a hub of coal-related industries of Singareni Collieries.
As part of this a team from Airports Authority of India (AAI) today inspected a site at Garimellapadu in Kothagudem. According to sources the team opined that the land here is only suitable for the landing 50-seater planes.
A detailed report would be submitted to the Government, said NV Bhaskara Rao, team consultant from New Delhi. The team consisted of IN Murthy, joint general manager, AAI, Chennai and D Rajagopal, Dy general manager, (civil) AAI.
A Vayu Dhooth centre was sanctioned for Bhadrachalam in the district when Jalagam Vengala Rao was Union minister.
But subsequently it went to Kothadudem and finally nobody knows the fate of the related file.
