Kota Kinabalu: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Chairman Datuk Dr Munir Majid said it may not be possible for the airline to provide direct flights between India and Sabah.
"MAS may not be able to cope with it, as it may have a capacity constraint.
Nevertheless, other people would definitely move in like Indian airlines," he said when asked to comment on Indian High Commissioner Ashok K Kantha's call for more direct flights between both countries.
MAS presently operates direct flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and five destinations in India, namely Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
"A lot of Indian airlines are also coming to Kuala Lumpur, which is a good thing because we cannot fly everywhere from point to point. We have to look at our bottom line as well.
"But we fly as much and quite frequently as we can to these five destinations," he said.
