Lucknow: The state Haj Committee has made elaborate arrangement for the pilgrims going to Mecca this year. UP Haj Committee Chairman Naseemuddin Siddiqui, said that for the first time, flights for Haj will take off from Varanasi, besides Lucknow and Delhi. He was addressing a meeting of the committee on Sunday.
Siddiqui said the first flight for Saudi Arabia will take off on November 11 and a total of 30,000 people will go for Haj this year. He added that while 8,947 people would catch flights for Saudi Arabia from Lucknow, 2,729 people will board flights from Varanasi. The remaining 18,414 people will board flights from Delhi.
For the first time, all formalities like security checks, immigration, custom and bank clearance will be made at the Haj House in Lucknow, he said.
