Air India wants to build 'European Hub'

Kolkata: The work for 'Destination Europe' was progressing well and dialogues are on with different alliances for an 'European hub', National Aviation Company of India Chairman V Thulasidas said on Sunday.
Facilities at Copenhagen, Vienna, Munich, Amsterdam and other places in Europe were being studied, he told reporters at the Netaji Shubas Chandra Bose International Airport after flagging off the maiden Kolkata-Singapore Air India Express.
Air passengers from eight major Indian cities, including Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru would be able to enjoy the facilities of this proposed European hub of Air India.
Air India authorities were now studying the facilities at different airports as well as the 'terms and conditions' offered by various alliances in Europe, he said.
Stating that the passengers' response in Kolkata-London flights was good, he said adding jumbo jets used in the route were, however, too big.
