JetLite to seek nod for Gulf flights

New Delhi: Jet Airways’ low-cost arm, Air Sahara-turned-JetLite, will this week apply for flying rights to the lucrative Gulf sector. The Centre had recently allowed Jet Airways to fly to four destinations in the Gulf from January 1, 2008. Once JetLite also gets the nod, Jet will offer a legacy and low-cost service to Gulf just like Air India and AI Express.
JetLite CEO Garry Kingshott said the airline has looked at sectors like Kuwait, Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Doha. "We will require four more Boeing 737 for this sector and the first of them will come by January-end. Till these planes come, the existing fleet will be used for overnight flights to Gulf," he said.
