Kashmir to get direct flights to Gulf

New Delhi: Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz has said that Kashmir would soon get direct flights to the Gulf.
Soz said that he was given a categorical assurance by the Minister of Civil Aviation, Praful Patel that a feasibility study of introducing direct flight on the Srinagar-Dubai sector was being carried out by the Air India subsidiary – Air India Express.
Following the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines and introduction of new fleet, Air India Express has been carrying out studies on various sectors for introducing new flights from international airport of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir.
Soz said that he had received a letter from the civil aviation minister assuring him that there was also a possibility of adding other destinations to connect Srinagar with various Gulf capitals.
However, this would depend on the response Srinagar-Dubai flight gets after it is introduced.
