Mangalore to be made major investment destination: KCCI

Mangalore: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) would work towards making Mangalore a major investment-destination, new KCCI president Kumble Narasimha Prabhu said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference at the KCCI hall here, Prabhu said the KCCI would meet the National Highway authority or launch protest if necessary to see that bad condition of roads was set right.
He recalled that the National Highway authority had responded to the KCCI’s demands last year by repairing the roads.
The KCCI would take an initiative to increase frequency of international flights especially to Gulf from Mangalore. A team of KCCI members would visit Gulf countries to invite NRIs to invest in Mangalore. The KCCI also would lobby for a Air Cargo Complex and Flying Club at the Mangalore Airport.
Some of the projects before the KCCI includes, facilitating introducing of cruise ships from Mangalore to Lakshadweep, Goa and Mumbai. The KCCI also would extend co-operation to import and export capacity of the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT). The KCCI would press for the resumption of Mangalore- Mumbai Janshathabdi Express, he added.
