Tiruchi, Vizag getting world class airports

New Delhi: Visakhapatnam and Tiruchi are to soon get world class modern airports. Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to invite bids by the end of the month for not only commercial operation and maintenance of the terminal building but also develop, manage and operate the cargo facilities and undertake city side development at Visakhapatnam and Tiruchi airports.
Confirming the development, official sources told Business Line that the development of the two southern airports would be broadly on the lines being followed for the development of Amritsar and Udaipur airports.
Earlier this month, AAI called for Request for Quotation for outsourcing on a long-term basis the maintenance and commercial exploitation of the new terminal buildings at the two northern airports. The bidders have been asked to submit their proposals by the middle of next month.
A similar process is likely to be followed for the Visakhapatnam and Tiruchi airports.
