AAI may set up parallel cargo complex at Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: In a move that could pose a major threat to the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE), the Airport Authority of India (AAI) is planning to set up a parallel cargo complex at the airport here.
This website's News Paper had recently reported that a fresh row had erupted over the cargo complex at the new terminal coming up at Chakai side.
While the AAI insisted that the new cargo complex should be set up as a joint venture of the KSIE and the AAI, the State Government was unwilling to accept the suggestion.
A meeting convened at the Cabinet secretary-level in New Delhi thereafter had decided not to accept the AAI's demand for joint venture on the cargo terminal which is at present run by the KSIE.
However, the AAI still has a plan to set up a parallel cargo complex near the new terminal of the airport.
"If the State Government and the KSIE do not accept a joint venture, we may set up a parallel cargo service here, like the ones we have in Chennai and Kolkata," a top official of the AAI told this website's News Paper.
