ATF prices may be rationalised

New Delhi: Even as the Centre is planning to increase the domestic fuel prices, it may consider rationalising prices of ATF (aviation turbine fuel) which is costlier than many developed countries.
The Union civil aviation minister, Mr Praful Patel, said that the department was trying to work out a solution to rationalise the ATF prices. “We are discussing the issue with the petroleum ministry officials. But we cannot expect any immediate decision on the issue,” Mr Patel told reporters after a meeting with Union petroleum minister, Mr Murli Deora here today.
Mr Deora, on the other hand, refused to make any commit regarding the ATF prices. “It will take some time”, he said. At the meeting, the civil aviation minister and his top officials briefed the petroleum ministry officials on the financial losses being faced by the airlines on account of the rising ATF prices.
