Civil Aviation Ministry starts work on heliports at Delhi, Mumbai

New Delhi: The Civil Aviation Ministry has started work on the proposed heliports in Delhi and Mumbai. According to official sources, the heliport in Delhi is expected to be ready before the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
At present, the Ministry is looking for about 25-acres of land at subsidised rates from the Delhi Development Authority for the project. Earlier, it was considering the land on the banks of Yamuna near the Akshardham Temple, but the plan failed to materialise. In Mumbai, the heliport is expected to come up on a floating jetty of the Nariman Point coast.
