Delhi airport website yet to catch up with global standards

New Delhi: There may be a buzz around the modernisation of Delhi airport but the ground reality is that the official website of the airport is way behind its international counterparts. The website, www.newdelhiairport.in, is literally defunct and has no information on real time flight status and which terminal you should check in.
Instead when you log on to the website, you get to read a factsheet of Delhi aerotropolis mega project. In comparison, the website of all international airports, such as London’s Heathrow Airport and New York’s JFK, not only have detailed information on the flight status but also other details such as what’s available in the duty free shops, packaged with interesting offers. In fact, the airport website does not even offer information on how one can book a taxi or find the nearest hotel.
It has been around 18 months since the GMR-led consortium Delhi International Airport (DIAL) was awarded the contract for the modernisation of Delhi Airport.
When contacted by SundayET, a DIAL official said the company has been working on the website for the last five months.
Though DIAL claims that it has contacted all airlines requesting for the interlinking of data regarding flight timings, all major airlines deny receiving any such request.
