GoAir in talks to buy 20 A320 aircraft

New Delhi:Indian budget carrier Go Airlines Pvt. Ltd. Friday said it is in talks with Airbus to buy 20 new A320 aircraft to help it gain a larger share of the country's booming aviation market.
"We will consider availing of the sale and leaseback option," Managing Director Jeh Wadia told Dow Jones Newswires in an e-mail interview.
While he didn't elaborate, a senior GoAir executive valued the deal at $1.4 billion - because the catalogue price of each A320 is $70 million.
Asking not to be named, the executive said GoAir will place the order soon as it is aiming to grow its fleet to 41 airplanes by March 2012, up from the current six.
