Jet to pay Cancelling tickets: Rs 50,000 to passenger

Chandigarh: The cancellation of confirmed tickets without intimation to the passengers has cost Jet Airways a penalty of Rs 50,000 along with the price of the tickets.
In an order passed by the District Consumer Forum today, the airline has been held responsible for causing harassment to a Panchkula couple by cancelling their confirmed return tickets from Leh to Delhi.
According to complainants, S C Gupta and his wife Kusum Gupta, they had purchased two air tickets from M/s Airpack Travels Ltd, Patiala, for the airbus of Jet Airways from Delhi to Leh and back for Rs 14,780 each. The tickets were confirmed for their journey from Delhi to Leh on July 27, 2006 and back from Leh to Delhi on July 30, 2006.
As per schedule, the couple travelled from Delhi to Leh and after landing they went to confirm their return tickets. However, they were told that their tickets have been cancelled.
The zonal office of Jet Airways in Leh told the complainants that their tickets were cancelled because the travel agency in Patiala failed to inform the airline about their ticket numbers.
