Mangalore: For the second time within a fortnight, angry passengers disrupted normal life in Bajpe Airport on Monday.
As many as 164 passengers who had booked their tickets in Air-India Express flight to Dubai were left stranded in Bajpe Airport. Many passengers on reaching the airport were informed that the Kozhikode-Mangalore-Dubai flight which departs from Bajpe Airport at 12.40 pm had been rescheduled.
According to the revised schedule, the flight would depart to Dubai from Bajpe Airport at 10.40 pm. Passengers fuming with anger on having to wait at the Bajpe Airport for more than 13 hours manhandled airport staff and flight representatives at the Airport.
However, normalcy was restored when Bajpe Airport authorities offered refreshments and a compensation of Rs 1,000 for the inconveniences caused. Few passengers initially refused the compensation and continued to protest until in the evening. Later, they too left the airport after accepting refreshments and Rs 1,000 as compensation, Bajpe Airport sources told this website's newspaper.
