New Delhi: There is good news for companies having an office at Mumbai’s Nariman Point. Pawan Hans Helicopters has embarked on a project to build the first heliport there over the next two years.
A team consisting of officials of Pawan Hans, DGCA and civil aviation ministry has short-listed two sites for the project. According to ministry sources, Pawan Hans will be the nodal agency for coordination and other activities with regard to identification and construction, operation and management of the heliport — to be constructed on a public private partnership (PPP) basis.
The move comes in the wake of a strong demand to develop a heliport in south Mumbai as there is a lot of traffic there.
The heliport will also end ad hoc charter services, parking of helicopters at bigger airports and free movement and operations of helicopters, with comparatively lesser waiting for take off and landing.
