Air Deccan to pay compensation for delay in refunding ticket amount

Chandigarh: Holding Air Deccan responsible for delaying the refund of a ticket, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum-I has directed the airlines to pay a compensation of Rs 2,500 and litigation charge of Rs 1,100 to the complainant, Surinder Bhakoo, a Sector 16 resident.
Bhakoo had purchased a return ticket from Chandigarh to Jammu via the Internet. The ticket was booked for February 25 and the return ticket was booked for February 26. Bhakoor claimed that the airlines informed him about the flight cancellation 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure.
Bhakoo also alleged that he was refunded the flight amount only three months after the incident.
