Airhostess claims signature on 'marriage' affidavit

Mumbai: Jet Airways airhostess Aliya Rizvi, arrested in an immigration racket, has contended in her bail application before a city court that the signature on the ‘bogus’ affidavit declaring her marriage with co-accused Rajeshkumar Trivedi is not hers.
In their remand application seeking Rizvi’s custody, the police had said Rizvi and Trivedi posed as a married couple before the US Consulate on November 26 and produced a “false” document in order to get a visa for Trivedi, a businessman from Ahmedabad. The police said this document was forged by the other accused in the case—Rajesh Ghemlawala, Bandra boutique owner Yusuf Baig and Altaf Shaikh.
“Since the document was forged by Ghemlawala, Baig and Shaikh, it is a clear indication that my client didn’t sign on it. Since the signature is not original and forged, my client cannot be booked for forgery,” said her lawyer, Ayaz Khan.
Rizvi, 24, who was arrested on November 26, and the others were today remanded to judicial custody till December 17. All five have been booked for forgery, cheating and conspiracy.
