CAFS to launch flight kitchen at Kozhikode

Kochi: Kerala-based Casino Air Catering and Flight Services (CAFS), a sister concern of CGH Earth Experience, is scheduled to open its flight kitchen at Kozhikode on January 5, 2008, with the launch of Jet Airways' flight to Bahrain and Muscat from Kozhikode. According to George Dominic, Managing Director, CAFS, the cost of the project is eight crore rupees, and of the total area of 17,500 sq. ft., 6,000 sq. ft. will be dedicated for flight operations, while the rest will be used for storage and other service utilities.
The project is a joint venture with Malabar Caterings, whereby meals - mostly ethnic cuisine, especially from the Malabar side - for about 10, 000 passengers can be cooked on a daily basis. Initially though, CAFS will cater to 1,000 passengers daily from Jet Airways and is in time, looking to target 4,000 meals a day.
The new kitchen will be operational with state-of-the-art technology and advanced equipments, including blast chiller, walk-in chiller, dish washing machine, jet washes, highly efficient air condition and refrigeration, water filtration system, sewage treatment plant, high security system, rain harvesting system, solar panels and separate butcheries for fish, poultry and meat.
