Chandigarh: IndiGo Airlines has been directed by the District Consumer Forum to pay Rs.15, 000 compensation to a complainant, due to flight delay. The airline and Amrit Air Links Private Limited, a registered agent for sale of IndiGo Airlines tickets, will bear the litigation expenses of Rs 1,500.
P R Singhania, the complainant, said that he had purchased a return air ticket on IndiGo Airlines (Delhi to Kolkata sector). He had booked the tickets from Amrit Air Links Private Limited, Sector 17 on the payment of Rs 5,882 and a Rs 200 commission to the booking agent. He reached Delhi airport at 2 pm on April 9, 2007, an hour before the scheduled departure of the flight. However, the flight took off at 8 pm and reached Kolkata at 10 pm. The delay forced Singhania to miss some important meetings with his clients, resulting in financial loss. He faced a similar situation the next day, when the flight to Delhi was delayed by over three hours, forcing him to board an Indian Airlines flight.
