Jawans clash with airport staff

Kolkata: An ugly fracas between an airport staff and a security jawan blocked the entry to the domestic terminal for nearly an hour, leaving departing passengers frustrated on Thursday evening.
The impasse was resolved only after senior Airports Authority of India officials and Central Industrial Security Force officers intervened. Luckily, the skirmish did not lead to any flights being delayed.
The problem happened when an AAI staff attempted to enter through a gate reserved for passengers and visitors. The CISF personnel on duty refused him entry, triggering a bitter wrangle.
Incidentally, the jawan had only recently been posted at the airport and was not sporting the temporary pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. The airport staff spotted this and challenged his authority, leading to frayed tempers. Soon their respective colleagues joined in, sparking chaos.
