Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based infrastructure major Maytas Infrastructure is vying for at least 10-12 airport projects across the country, including three in the North and several second-line airports in Andhra Pradesh.
However, it is not clear if the group would bid for these projects along with its long-time partner Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC).
The two groups, which are together executing several other infrastructure projects, also won contracts for the development and operation of two greenfield airports in Karnataka — at Gulbarga and Shimoga — recently.
The groups, according to industry sources, are preparing the ground with these smaller contracts to take a shot at larger airport projects, which will come up for open bidding soon.
According to an IDFC-SSKI Securities report, an investment of roughly Rs 35,000 crore has been proposed in airport infrastructure in the country over the next five years, with roughly 20% of it in non-metro airports alone.
