Malaysia Airlines will spread its wings to more destinations in China, starting with the revival of the Macau route, managing director Datuk Seri Idris Jala said in Sepang recently.
Presently, MAS flies to six places in China, namely, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming and Xiamen.
Macau is the latest addition to the list, starting off with four weekly direct flights. In total, MAS operates 63 flights to China.
The plan to serve more destinations in China and India is part of MAS’ overall aim to boost its position as one of Asia's premier airlines.
Apart from China, India will be the next big market it is focussing on. Currently, MAS flies to Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
In India, MAS has an existing code share with Air India.
