Bangalore: Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has chosen Columbia Asia Hospitals (P) Ltd. for providing medical care to travellers and other occupants of the new international airport. The hospital will establish a 24X7 medical care facility and a pharmacy at the airport. The facility will have the latest medical equipment, technology and expertise to handle routine outdoor medical cases, as well as emergencies. Work on the medical facility has already begun and will be launched at the time of commissioning the new airport on March 30, 2008.
"We will have a team of dedicated doctors for this new facility. The team will include a physician, paramedics, nurses, people to man the pharmacy and a full-fledged back up team. We will also have three ambulances stationed at the airport," says Nandakumar Jairam, Chairman, Columbia Asia Hospitals (P) Ltd. The team will undergo formal training as per the requirements of the Airports Authority of India.
