Goyal gears up to enter hotel business

Kozhikode: Jet Airways is all set to diversify into the hospitality sector.
According to company chairman Naresh Goyal, a separate company would be formed for running hotels both in India and abroad. Along with this, the airline will also enter inflight catering.
"It's becoming imperative to control costs as everything — hotel tariffs, food, technical and staff cost — has gone up tremendously. There are either very expensive or no rooms available in cities like Brussels, New York and San Francisco. We need to put up our cockpit and cabin crew. So we have decided to get into the hospitality sector to both showcase Indian hospitality abroad as well as control our costs," Goyal said.
Jet has got land near the Brussels airport, its hub in Europe and has got offers from a number of Gulf hotel majors for building and operating it.
"We will take a final decision in the next four to five months on the issue after discussing with Brussels Airport," Goyal said.
