Master plan finalised for Raja Bhoj Airport in MP

Bhopal: Master plan for the overall development of Airports Authority of India's (AAI) Raja Bhoj Airport project in Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh has been finalised. A total acquisition of 387 acres of land has already been approved by the state government, of which eight acres have been handed over to AAI, while the remaining transfer is underway. Besides the terminal building, an air traffic tower will also be constructed.
The runway extension work, to be undertaken in Phase I, is expected to begin by May 2008. The runway is slated to be extended from the present length of 6,700 feet to 9,000 feet. Apart from that, a new integrated terminal is in the planning stage.
