NACIL to sale, lease back aircraft

New Delhi: National Aviation Company of India Ltd, the new entity created after the merger of state carriers Indian and Air India, on Monday invited bids to sale and lease back ten aircraft as part of measures to strengthen its fleet to 200 aircraft.
In an advertisement, the company invited sealed bids from companies for sale and lease back of six Airbus A-320s and four Boeing B 747-400s.
The merged entity has already placed orders for 68 aircraft from Boeing and 43 from Airbus, and has started inducting these planes. It is also planning to augment its fleet by ordering more aircraft.
However, Air India's plans to place further orders, keeping in view the growing air traffic demand, are yet to be finalised. The airline is now mulling an acquisition of 60 more aircraft from Boeing and Airbus to make its fleet 200-strong.
