Nagpur airport transfer clearance on Thursday

Nagpur: The handing over of Nagpur airport from the control of Airport Authority of India to the Maharashtra Airport Development Company is certain to get clearance from the Union cabinet on Thursday.
Interestingly, both civil aviation minister Praful Patel as well as Union minister of state for renewable energy Vilas Muttemwar are claiming to have made efforts to clear the path for the cabinet nod.
For the last several months, the airport handing over was hanging in balance. Frustrated by the delay, a PIL was filed before the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court but the aviation ministry had failed to give any commitment to the court about the transfer. In fact the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party were involved in a protracted war of words blaming each other for the delay.
The Congress MP from city had blamed Patel and the NCP for showing apathy to the cause. Patel had countered it pointing to the Congress and its ministers for blocking the airport transfer.
