Bengal airport developer woos Boeing for maintenance

Kolkata: After Nagpur in Maharashtra, it is West Bengal that may be on the radar of Boeing as it looks for another maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in the country.
While the US aerospace major declined to respond to a mail in time for this report, Partha Ghosh, director of Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Ltd, developers of Durgapur Aerotropolis, said he has spoken to civil aviation ministry officials in this regard.
“We are talking to several partners for possible tie ups regarding MRO facility”, he said.
According to sources in the industry, Boeing is eager to set up regional spokes or centres for its Nagpur hub. The aviation giant has bagged a huge order from India, which includes a combination of 777s, 787s and 737s aircraft.
