Panaji: The Bharatiya Janata Party, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and the Congress minister, Mr Manohar Azgaonkar have expressed strong support for the proposed Mopa international airport, taking strong objections to the renewed opposition for the project coming from the Minister for Public Works Department, Mr Churchill Alemao.
Mr Azgaonkar, speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’, this evening said that he would be forced to take on to the street with the people from his constituency, if the government bows down before the demand of Mr Alemao.
“Mr Alemao had held the government to ransom over this issue, in the past and it would not be allowed this time,” he said, adding “the Pernem taluka has got such a development oriented project after so many years, and we would not give up this project so easily.”
Mr Azgaonkar also said that the project had already been delayed for 4 years and could wait no longer.
