New Delhi: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has asked several sectors--including cement, airlines and explosives--suspected to be involved in cartelisation to frame and strictly follow model codes of conduct and compliance programmes.
The move is aimed at preventing Companies in these sectors from engaging in anti-trust activities, including abusing or misusing a dominant position, price fixing, dealing exclusively with certain retailers, dividing up territories and other forms of cartelisation.
The move would also ensure there are no entry barriers for new players.
This is the first time that the CCI has given specific directions to trade associations, as well as senior management and employees in marketing and strategy departments of these sectors.
Sources said National Aviation Company of India Ltd has already held a meeting of employees to discuss policies regarding discounts and pricing to ensure that it does not breach competition laws.
