New Delhi: Finding a suitable candidate for overseeing the turbulent merger of Air India and Indian Airlines is proving to be an uphill task for the government.
The aviation ministry, which got 51 applications for the post of CMD of the merged entity, National Aviation Company of India Ltd (NACIL), is not satisfied with the response it got for the position.
The 51 initial applications are now down to three candidates - a joint secretary each in the department of economic affairs and ministry of commerce and a CMD of a PSU - the headhunt is far from over. The search panel of cabinet secretary and aviation and personnel secretaries may look within the aviation ministry.
