India, UAE sign new air services agreement

India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reached a new air services agreement on flights, code-sharing and further liberalizing the aviation sector.
The new Air Services Agreement relates to all safety, security provisions and has a modern text. This agreement will also result in more flights between India-Abu Dhabi and India-Ras Al Khaimah sector. The present agreement has been revised and incorporates all the new changes. India has already reviewed bilateral air services with Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain. The agreement will be sent to the Indian cabinet for approval, following which a formal signing will be done.
Under the deal, UAE carrier Ethihad Airways can fly to Chennai and Calicut - Abu Dhabi in March and from the next winter schedule to Kolkata and Jaipur. India has agreed to allow flights to four new destinations from Abu Dhabi, while the UAE national carrier has asked for permission to fly to nine sectors.
