New Delhi: Driving to IGI airport's domestic terminal will be a hassle-free experience from early next week. Traffic headed for the terminal will stop using the main road from the roundabout and instead use a new and broader road that opens a little before the old road to terminal 1A, the departure terminal for Indian Airlines and Kingfisher. The main road will now be used exclusively by those headed for the departure terminal .
Airport sources said the road outside the arrival terminal, on which taxis line up, will be closed early next week. The arrival terminal is being extended almost up to terminal 1B on one side and till Udaan Bhavan on the other. Extension work — expected to be completed by April — will necessitate closing the road in front of the terminal.
The new road, opening in front of the renovated arrival terminal, will be wide enough to accommodate the prepaid taxi queue as well as chartered buses, leaving the middle lane free for traffic.
