Air Deccan withdraws Kol-Delhi flight

Kolkata: Air Deccan has withdrawn its flight on the Kolkata-Delhi route with effect from 30 March, leaving several passengers high and dry. And its summer schedule hasn't even been announced yet.
An Air Deccan spokesperson said the withdrawal of the airlines’ Kolkata-Delhi flight was part of its new summer schedule and an attempt to “rationalise routes based on Deccan's alliance with Kingfisher”. But she had no answer when asked why the summer schedule hadn't been put up on Deccan's website as yet.
Passengers were confused and angry when they found that they couldn't book tickets on any of the flights even for 30 March, which is just a few days away.
After the acquisition of a 26 per cent stake in Air Deccan last year by Mr Mallya owned Kingfisher Airlines, there was a Rs 500-1000 hike in fares of the budget airlines. With the “co-branding” of Kingfisher Airlines and Deccan coming to pass, the once-budget airlines has been looking to grab a share of the market pie that was exclusively that of JetLite.
