New Delhi: Boeing Co.Tuesday said its wholly owned unit, Aviall Inc., will begin operations in India in the second half of 2008 to cater to the growing aviation and defense market in the South Asian nation.
Aviall distributes aircraft parts and offers related aftermarket services in the aerospace industry for more than 225 companies worldwide, Boeing said in a statement. Aviall will have its headquarter at an industrial park at Noida, on the outskirts of India's capital, it said.
Boeing, which is bidding to sell 126 F/A-18 fighter jets to the Indian Air Force, has already sold commercial planes to Indian carriers such as Air India Ltd. and Jet Airways (India) Ltd.
