Delta tips US$10m income from NY-Mumbai

Delta Air lines has taken delivery of its first B777-200LR (Long Range) aircraft; a second is due for delivery later this month. They were selected partly for their cargo-carrying capacity and will be used on the airline’s longest run, New York, USA-Mumbai, India. Two shorter-range Boeing 777s now on that route will switch to daily flights between Atlanta, USA and Shanghai, China beginning late March.
Delta hadn’t been able to carry a full passenger load and cargo on its Mumbai route using the older equipment. Now, it estimates it will make around US$10m a year from cargo shipments.
