A 36-year-old doctor, who used to work with a renowned airlines, lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws at Powai police station on Saturday, charging them with mental and physical harassment for money.
According to police, Shivli Badge, a resident of the posh Lake Homes area in Powai, alleged that her husband, Sharad, 37, a pilot with Air India, had been torturing her, along with her in-laws - Pushpalata, 58, Ramchandra, 64 and Kaushalya, 82, her husband’s grandmother - ever since she gave up her job to look after her son.
Police said that Shivli, who once worked as a medical officer with Jet Airways and prior to that, with Indian Airlines (now Indian), married Sharad in October 1997. The couple had a son in April 1999. The complainant told the cops that she had to give up her job with Jet Airways in 2001, as her son had started “learning bad words used by domestic helps.”
But the moment she stopped earning, her husband and in-laws began torturing her.
Shivli said in her FIR that her husband came home once in six months. He cast aspersions about her character, even though she had spotted him with an air hostess several times.
