Taking a tough stand, the government has invoked ESMA (Essential Services Maintenances Act) against employees who have decided to launch a non cooperation movement at Delhi airport to deal with any contingency.
To deal with any contingency in the wake of strike call by airport employees countrywide, 479 Air Force personnel are positioned at 21 key civilian airports to man essential services. The moving of Air Force personnel follows government invoking ESMA to deal with the strike, signaling toughening of stance by the authorities.
While flight operations at the domestic airport in New Delhi on early Wednesday (March 12) were unaffected due to the indefinite non-cooperation called by the Airport Authority of India Employees Union since Tuesday midnight.
