Kenya Airways keen to enter South Indian market

Mumbai: On account of rising load factors from the Indian market, Kenya Airways is planning to expand its operations in India. Currently, the airline operates only from Mumbai and is keen to enter the South Indian market. The airline is looking at cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi to start with and is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). “We are keen to enter the South Indian market and hope to get the requisite permissions in the next round of bilateral talks between Kenya and MoCA,” said Emmanuel Chepkong'a, Country Manager, India, Kenya Airways. The airline is also planning to start flights out of Delhi as it received approval for the same from MoCA last year. “We have bilateral rights for the route but due to non availability of aircraft we are unable to connect Delhi at present and can’t give a definite timeline for flights out of Delhi at the moment,” stated Chepkong’a.
With a growth of 12 -15 per cent from the Indian market, the airline is witnessing a growth of 20 per cent in the leisure sector.
