Ride to airport will burn a hole in pocket

Hyderabad: It’s going to be ‘cab-seva’ all the way for patrons of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, with taxi bills sometimes likely to exceed the cost of their flight tickets.
With no entry for autorickshaws at the international airport, cab service, at Rs 15 per km during the day and Rs 18.75 per km at night, will be the only public transport available for passengers.
The 30 buses provided by GMR from four junctions in the city have already evoked a lot of criticism as they are charging Rs 95 for transporting the passengers to the airport.
And with the government yet to introduce trains to the airport, this cab service appears to be the only option left for air passengers.
To reach the airport, most of the passengers will have to travel a distance of 20 to 40 km. And, going by a cab, one would have to end up spending anywhere between Rs 300 and Rs 600.
