‘Strike will not affect Begumpet airport’

Hyderabad: Even as airport employees’ unions have decided to go on strike from midnight on Tuesday as part of their ‘noncooperation movement’, protesting the closure of Begumpet airport, director of the airport SM Singla has said contingency plans have been drawn up to ensure that the services at the airport are not paralysed.
Singla said about 50 people had been drawn from various wings to cope with the workload following the strike. He said the Fire Services wing would be affected the most and 32 personnel from Hakimpet Airforce Station had been drafted for duties at Begumpet airport.
"There won’t be any major issues," he said adding that the airport was equipped to deal with crises. There would not be any disruption of flight services, he asserted.
