Trader held with fake passport

Kolkata: A businessman from Hoshiarpur in Punjab was arrested from the Kolkata airport on Sunday after he was deported from the UK.
Kamaljit Singh (28) was deported from Heathrow for travelling on a forged passport issued in the name of one Nitin Pinja, reportedly a Delhi resident. A probe revealed that Singh had taken off from the city for Dubai on February 28.
“During interrogations, Singh said he was using a forged passport that would have come in handy to obtain an UK visa. UK and USA follow certain restrictions while issuing visas to Punjabis and Gujaratis,” said an immigration officer.
The restrictions were put in place due to large-scale illegal immigration by Gujaratis and Punjabis to the UK and the US. Singh had obtained a forged passport in the name of one Nitin Pinja from a tout, Sanjay Kumar, alias Lucky.”
