Plane parts are coming under the scrutiny of US government investigators.
The office of the Transport Department's inspector general has said there have not been enough aviation audits to determine whether manufacturers' quality-assurance systems are working.
There are 15 countries, including Mexico, Portugal, Turkey, Pakistan and India that produce parts for U.S. aircraft.
The FAA is worried that some of the countries are not providing adequate oversight of manufacturing operations.
Investigators have found widespread discrepancies at 20 out of 21 suppliers they reviewed, including the age of equipment used to make plane parts and the lack of product testing prior to delivery.
