Nod for Penang-Chennai route

The governments of India and Malaysia have agreed to allow direct flights between Penang and Chennai.
Malaysian Namban quoted Indian High Commissioner Ashok P. Kanta as saying that Malaysian airline companies should make use of this opportunity.
He said the introduction of direct flights would help increase the number of tourists between both countries and improve bilateral relations.
Speaking to members of the Penang Indian Chamber of Commerce, Ashok said Penang businessmen should also make use of the investment opportunities that were available in the trade, education, telecommunications and health sectors in India.
Ashok also said that Malaysian Indians should take the opportunity to apply for the Indian government’s financial aid that is given to students who are pursuing their professional studies.
He said that so far 30 students had submitted their applications.
