SpiceJet bets big on online advertising

Mumbai: SpiceJet aims to increase its revenue through ad space selling on its website, spicejet.com.
The airline has identified various advertising opportunities on its website, which it hopes would help generate additional revenues of 8 million by FY 2010 for the company.
With approximately 14 million page views a month and 800000 registered database per month, the website accounts for 75 to 80 per cent of the airline's ticket booking.
With this new initiative, SpiceJet plans to bring a whole host of advertising opportunities for online advertisers, available in the form of banners on home page, flight schedule page, pop-up windows and space on exclusive e-mailers that are sent to all SpiceJetters.
As per industry experts says that the internet penetration in India is estimated to have grown at an average of 60 percent for the last five years and online advertising is estimated to reach a value of Rs 7.5 billion by 2010.
