Thundershower disrupts flights

Kolkata: Strong winds and incessant rain disrupted flight operations at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Sunday evening.
While five incoming flights hovered over the airport for 30 to 45 minutes, a few flights from Kolkata also got delayed for 30 to 45 minutes.
"Bad weather, particularly heavy rainfall and crosswinds at the surface level, forced a complete shutdown of flight operations from 7.50 to 8.25 pm," said a source from the airport meteorological department.
Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Air India flights from Delhi hovered over the airport for half an hour while the Jet Airways and Kingfisher flights from Mumbai hovered for 45 minutes.
Among the flights from Kolkata, the Air India flight to Bangalore took off at 8.35 pm, 35 minutes behind schedule.
The Kingfisher flights to Mumbai and Delhi were delayed by 25 minutes. However, flight operations in the international sector were not affected.
