Another pig strays on Nagpur runway

Nagpur: Incidents of animals straying onto the Dr Ambedkar International Airport runway has become a routine thing nowadays.
A major mishap was averted after a pig (wild boar) was crushed under the wheels of an Air India IC-736 Bangkok-Nagpur-Hyderabad flight with almost 27 passengers were onboard at about 7.30 pm on Tuesday. Sources at airport informed that pig was crushed when the flight was taking off for Hyderabad.
Recently two pigs were crushed during local flying (training programme) of Indian Air Force IL-76 aircraft while recently a landing of Mumbai-Nagpur Jet airways flight was aborted after a pig strayed onto the runway.
This is the almost fourth incidence within a month when an animal obstructed flight landing at the airport. Just few days back on May 1, a transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) hit two pigs during landing at the runway, killing them on the spot.
