Copter in emergency landing at Juhu

MUMBAI: A Global Vectra helicopter did an emergency touch down right in the middle of the Juhu airport runway on Monday after one of its two engines had to be shut down following a technical problem.
Global Vectra is one of the companies that provide helicopters for oil-rig operations in India. Sources said the helicopter touched down barely 10 minutes after take-off from the Juhu airport.
"It was an emergency landing with only one engine on and the chopper landed in the middle of the runway about half-a-kilometre away from the helipad," said a source.
Piloted by Capt Hanjra, it was given out on contract to ONGC for its offshore operations in Bombay High and there were five passengers onboard when the incident took place.
Directorate General of Civil Aviation is investigating the matter. The reason for Monday's emergency landing is not clear though.
