Jet blast hits Kingfisher

JAIPUR: On Monday afternoon, at Jaipur’s Sanganer airport, a JetLite Boeing 737 crossed its speed limits while moving out of a parking bay and ended up damaging a Kingfisher airlines ATR aircraft parked next to it. The exhaust blast from JetLite's revved-up engines sent a stream of dust and stones that hit the ATR's cockpit windscreen, damaging it completely.
"The aircraft had to be grounded. The windscreen has cracked and we have registered it as Foreign Object Damage resulting from a jet exhaust blast," said a Kingfisher Airlines spokesperson, confirming the incident.
It occurred around 12.20 pm when a JetLite Boeing 737-700 aircraft was taxiing out of its parking bay. "The commander gave the engines more thrust than what is normally needed for taxiing. The more the thrust you give to the engines, the more is the power output, the faster the aircraft moves and more is the resultant exhaust blast from its engines," said a source.
